Supported by a grant from the Town Council, South Woodham Ferrers Local History Society has launched a new project designed to capture the memories of people who are local to this area, for the enjoyment of future generations.
We would like to record stories and recollections in the form of oral history from people who have the common thread of living in South Woodham Ferrers. You may wish to talk to us about your earliest experiences of family and home life, education, relationships or work in South Woodham Ferrers. You may also have interesting stories that will shed light on local transport, organisations, businesses, communications or groups in the town.
Your memories may recall early life here, dramatic events or simply day to day life but as long as they relate to South Woodham Ferrers we look forward to hearing your story. In addition, if you have any memorabilia such as old photographs or other items that support your story, we would be pleased to have a copy. With the agreement of the contributor, we will be making the recorded material available for research, educational & training purposes. To provide greater public access, copies of the contributors’ material will be lodged with the Sound & Video Archive at the Essex Record Office.
We are very keen to make contact with local people who wish to contribute their memories or know someone who may be willing to contribute or wish to find out what is involved. If so, please contact Roger Bennett on 01245 320421 or Roy Bradnam on 01245 328714 / roybradnam@yahoo.com
