South Woodham Ferrers Local History Society

A short illustrated presentation by Sam Coley and Derrick Ruse, members of the Local History Society, who are involved in an important local project ‘Remembering the Men of Woodham Ferrers who served in the Great War – researching the names on Woodham Ferrers War Memorial’ being undertaken in these centenary years.

The First World War touched every community in the country and the names of the thirty-one men lost from our parish of Woodham Ferrers (an almost unbelievable number from such a small parish) are recorded on the war memorial at St Mary’s churchyard together with the names of those who served and survived the war.

The presentation will be followed by a local History Quiz and an opportunity for visitors to meet members in an informal atmosphere and perhaps to come away with a prize!
