Formed in 1978 with the aim of promoting an interest in all aspects of local history the society has a monthly meeting with invited speaker, organises exhibitions of local history interest and supported 'South Woodham Ferrers - A Pictorial History' published by Phillimore. Talks about the town's history are given to clubs, societies and schools.
